On center table 8, Giuseppe Iellimo just cooled off with
. Normal enough but it was a 440,000 pot at 15/3 – a big one.

Borgata cashing legend Howard W. has little to say for once – he’s in angst, his mind destroyed by The Non-Call.
Eidson hasn’t budged, his stack still strong at 370,000, while LePera has taken a hit.

We take a break next. Eidson and LePera continue past 350,000 and lead the first flight.

Ben Laves, seated next to LePera, has passed 200,000 as well. Laves just final tabled the seniors last night.

Andrew Klein on table 4 gets a river shove in against an ill-advised blocking bet. Snap fold. 110,000 and healthy for Klein.
We’ll return in fifteen.

Matt Eidson had to settle for splitting the pot when his KQ and his opponent’s AQ both made Broadway on a board of x J T K A. With those chips, Matt chipped up to ~390,000 and appears to be our chip leader.
They’re closing in on the end of level 12, leaving just four more before the bag & tag.

Diane LePera is contending for the overall chip lead, but definitely leads among the few ladies in today’s first flight.
She’s playing about 260,000 (130 big blinds) at this point and looking quite comfortable playing at a table full of guys.
During the 2018 Summer Poke Open, Diane took home her first and only Borgata title, taking just under $11,000*, the trophy, and 1st place in the $260 Deeper Stack.

While Birk and others look to push past 300,000- at this stage, others are just hanging on.
On table 4, James Hundt is still fighting.
Hundt opened and picked up only Alan Lee on the button. The dealer dropped . James cbet 5500, and Alan called. The turn
seemed to catch Hundt’s attention, and he checked. But then, so did Alan.
Hundt later said he was calling a river bet, even when the fell. James checked, and bet 30,000 all-in into 20k. Tough to continue against this unexpected sizing. James folds.
Unfortunately, the hand leaves him into the red zone. Allen, however, gets the boost he needs, clocking in near the average.
Within the level, James is out.

Players are back from break and registration is closed with an unofficial entry count of 552.
Before the break, Craig Rubinstein was concentrating so hard on stacking the chips he just won in a pot, that he didn’t even notice someone pointing a camera at him. Then he caught me and said, “Oh, Hi!”.
He took home his one and only Borgata trophy in the March 2018 Monster Stacks series, good for more than $17,000. He’s doing alright, turning into the backstretch with about 100,000.
They’ll play through the end of level 16, then bag up for the night.

Re-entry for the Double Header first flight is soon closing – there’s still a little time, until the end of this break.
Meanwhile, other players are gathering chips to challenge big stack Steve Birk.

Ralph Macri, who played one of the most notorious tournament hands in Borgata history in this room, has at least 160,000.

Mitchell Mantin checks out the action on his outer table. Mitchell, an extremely prolific mid-level northeast tourney player, is around 180,000.
Many others are at or a little past 150,000, and at least three stacks have around 230,000.
We return in fifteen.

Steve Birk has broken through the chip ceiling to establish himself as the early leader. He’s playing about 270,000 (225 big blinds) as they approach the end of registration for this flight.
He’s got some tough customers on his table, where he’s sharing the green felt with Borgata regulars Tony Abi-Yaghi, Jerry Callahan, and Michael Dobbs.
