While at least Adnan Mohammad (482,000), Joseph Opie (461,000), Thanh Le (453,000), and Alida Veliu (431,000) hit four hundred thousand, none in today’s big flight could close on the consistent chip leader.

Under cover: deep in the Event Center entrance area, both Le, and Tiffany Lee (293,000) ground out the chips.

Interesting table: Ryan Minh Phan, Noam Muallem, Joseph Fragale all advance, but a brave rip against Nikita K. at the end leaves Fragale with just a big blind and an ante; as well, perhaps, as a long night ahead trying to make a bigger stack in 1F.
Barry McGovern took in 335,000. Paul Lambrakis bagged 378,000. Veliu bagged that big stack when she made a huge call at the end with an underpair versus a gambling stack.
Cherish Andrews, who put the beat on three kings earlier, survives with 77,000.
An estimated 270 players advanced to day 2.
Complete and official counts, as well as seating, will be posted when available.
Day 2 begins tomorrow, Friday, January 18th at 12 p.m. in the Event Center.
Meanwhile, flight F continues and registration is available.
Good luck!

1E players move to their last stretch of play, level 17, still negotiating a large pool. Tables continue to break, but the Event Center entrance area and the front of the tournament zone are still packed with over 30 tables of action.

Lunique Petiote is one of the survivors so far. You can see the pain on his opponent’s face, left, against this shove.
Meanwhile, another short stacker was not so lucky: Fausto Valdez from earlier had doubled, calling for a turn card, but then essentially had it done to him. C’est la vie.

With the flop reading , Dan Walsh bet 22,000 and seat 2 moved in for 67,000. A third player exited the pot and Dan tanked for a minute or so, studying the possibilities. Mumbling something like “he’s got either Ace-Queen or a flush draw”.
Dan decided to make the call, showing for top pair with gutshot and back-door flush draw. Seat 2 tabled
for the open-ended straight-flush draw, except Dan had one end of his straight-flush. Still, any single spade, King, or 8 would send the pot to seat 2.
When the came on the turn, seat 2 completed his straight to take the lead, but Dan improved to two pair.
Then the on the river gave Dan Kings-full and the pot. His opponent was sent to the rail. Dan’s up to about 270,000, closing in on the chip leader.

After Tom Gleason opened from the middle, the small blind 3-bet to 35,000. Tom shoved for 94,000 total, sending his opponent into the tank.
“I’m making a nitty fold” said the small blind, as he released his hand. “I didn’t have a pair,” he added. Sounds like he was folding Ace-something. Tom took the pot without showing his cards, but claimed pocket Queens. He’s up to about 140,000.

Meanwhile, with this bullet the one to make count, the short stacks will start colliding.
Gelman then shoved river for about 30,000 and all in, covering Cao on . No call.

Outer table action: on now broken 75, Jackie Liu hates mucking the small blind when it’s folded to her. No steal.
The big blind will call the 4,000 open, and then check raise Cathy’s continuation to 15,500, representing at minimum, belief she doesn’t like this flop.
However, Cathy makes the call on .
The BB decides he doesn’t like that, or the on the turn. He checks, and then sees a hefty 35,000 from Dever, which claims to the pot. She then turns over two more nines for a flopped top boat.
Meanwhile, big stack Landesman has joined her table. Each now are around the 180,000 mark.
