The chip leader, Ishmael Kennedy, has finally arrived, about 20 minutes late, and taken his seat. With his big stack, he could afford to arrive fashionably late.
Warren Sharpe has still not appeared and is being blinded off. Rumor is he was unable to return for Day 2, so we’ll watch his empty seat and see if he can make the money.
Jeffrey Bento was the second casualty of the day, leaving 11 players in action. They’re on a color-up break at the end of level 19.

Michael had the nut-low with his A2 and Sang took the high with his pocket Kings. Jack was left out in the cold and hit the rail in 13th place while the other two players chopped up his short-stack.

Classic Stud Hi/lo action just went down on table six.
The bring in pushed in the 1,000, Michael Matz called, a
completed, Bob Mcallister with a
called, as did the bring in and Matz.
The drew well with an
and led at the pot, while McCallister flatted with
, the bring in dropped, and Matz called making a
.
Matz drew nicely with an and but McCallister even stronger, pairing his king and leading, which drew a call from Matz and a surprise fold from the
with its two way hopes.
Heads up now, and Matz nearly all in, both players improbably paired, with McCallister drawing a , leaving him with a very strong high but no real low, while Matz was showing a more ambivalent
, meaning he could be more than live here.
However, on the river, McCallister declared he was full, and when he turned over his last card, it was the final king! The high was locked.
Fortunately for the now all in Matz, as McCallister had correctly pressured him all the way, he now picked up a to go with the
and
in the hole, and Matz was still alive.
Quads no good, so to speak.
McCallister has over 75,000 and is one of the heavies, while Matz is healthy with 52,500.

While the main focus currently on the blog is the Monster Stack NLH event we took a minute to check in on the Omaha/Stud High Low event.
WSOP bracelet winner Chris Reslock is starting to chip up. Reslock’s poker resume reads more like a novel with 8 WSOP Circuit Rings, 2 Borgata titles, a Sands title and nearly $2,000,000 in earnings.
He is now up to over 50,000 as Day 1 play moves along with 56 players remaining in the front of the Event Center.

No one is pulling away quite yet in the first period of day 1, with the top stacks bunching near 40,000.

Scoop in Stud8: key pot for Mike Cisco with most of his stack in the center, 64 low and Aces for high.
Our dinner break is now in session, and we return just before 8 PM.
Registration for our event ends when this break is over – still a little time to jump into the Mix.
