The first few levels of the ‘Super Stack Elevator’ flew by but heading into Day 2, with just 18 players remaining, we imagine that this field is going to go through a serious grind to get down to an eventual champion. Past ‘Super Stack Elevator’ events have been and with a very experienced and seasoned group coming back at 12 PM, we’re expecting the same today.
David Jackson, who already has one BPO title to his name comes back with a slight chip lead, leading Daniel Magnuson and Jake Schwartz, who round out the top three. Daniel Buzgon, who won last year’s WPO ‘Borgata Million’ also returns, with two time WPT Champion Cornel Cimpan coming back with a short stack.
Asher Conniff also comes back short, with Harrison Gimbel, who claimed a title during the last WPT BPO event in September, returns just over the chip average. A complete list of the remaining 18 players and their seating assignments have been posted below and the WPO blog will pick up coverage of Event 8 starting at 12 PM.

While the $1,000,000 GTD ‘Borgata Million’ technically starts today, it won’t be the focal point of the Winter Poker Open blog until tomorrow. That’s because there are two WPO trophies up for grabs this afternoon, with Event 8 ‘Super Stack Elevator’ coming back with two tables remaining and Event 9 ‘Pot Limit Omaha High’ returning with just eight remaining.
Both of those restarts will take place at 12 PM, an hour after Day 1A of the $1,000,000 GTD Event 10 begins. The WPO blog will be bringing you all of that final table action, while keeping an eye on the opening starting flight of this sure to be massive mid-week event. All the information you’ll need for those restarts will be posted shortly, as the WPO blog team readies itself for another championship crowning day in the Event Center.

Thanks to David Jackson, the Elevator has reached the money!
David was on the button and facing off against the player in the small blind. On the turn with a board of {7s}{5d}{5c}{ac} the small blind got all his chips in the middle, showing {ah}{kh} for top/top.
David had {5h}{2h} for trip 5s and was way ahead. When the {2c} completed the board, the pot was David’s and the bubble had burst. The final 27 players are now in the money and taking a break.
When they return, time is going back on the clock so there will be 73 minutes in level 21. At the end of this level, the remaining players will bag up for the night and return at 12 noon Tuesday for Day 2.
David Jackson is the chip leader with 964,000.
Harrison Gimbel is hot on his heels with 909,000.
Also still in the hunt:

Dawn Wilensky – 470,000
Norm Michalek – 350,000
Bill Wang – 310,000
Asher Conniff – 285,000
Dan DiZenzo – 270,000

Harrison Gimbel got the field one step closer to the money when he raised and Cullen Hoffman shoved. Harrison called, showing AK. The Cullen had pocket 5s. After the runout of A 8 4 Q 7, Harrison chipped up to ~740,000.
The Cullen reported to the exit and that left 28 players, meaning it was bubble time.
The final 28 players are playing hand-for-hand until one more player exits, sending the rest into the money.
After his departure, Cullen tweeted this:
Bubbled the “Elevator” for another 12 hour MAX pain loser. #cursed

Asher Conniff has doubled up again! He’s back to about 300,000 (38 big blinds).
Bill Wang doubled up through Sallie Stohler when he flopped a set of Aces to her set of 9s. Sallie was left with very few chips and busted out son after. Bill is up to ~700,000. He’s on table 1 with Asher Conniff and Daniel Charette, who appears to have stalled with about 800,000.
On the next table over, Rob Gerrard is coming on strong. After busting one player with pocket 8s vs. AK, he then doubled up through David Jackson when his AQ flopped a Queen against David’s AK. Rob is up to ~615,000 while David’s stack has been cut down to ~400,000.

David Jackson has pulled into second on the leader board. He’s up to 630,000. He’s got one Borgata title from the 2014 Borgata Poker Open, but is still looking for the other bookend for his trophy case.
BorgataPoker.com ambassador Asher Conniff shoved his last 43,000 under-the gun, then watched as the action folded around to the player on the button, who called. Asher produced the {ac}{9s} and was facing {4d}{4c}. “I’m good at these,” Asher said — and he was right.
The board flew out A Q J A 3 and Asher doubled up to 106,000.

Players are back from a break and the Elevator has climbed to 55 minute levels.
Daniel Charette is still the chip leader, although he has dropped below the 1 million mark — barely. He’s sitting behind 990,000 as of the break.
Dawn Wilensky is second in chips, although there is a big gap between first and second. Dawn’s got about 570,000. She has two previous cashes here at Borgata and both of those were final table appearances. She’s still looking for her first Borgata trophy.
Only 37 players remain in the action and only 27 will get paid, so they’re just ten spots from the money. Of course with these extremely long levels, there is no rush.

Brett Murray is another player that has fallen on hard times since the dinner break.
He was down to only 38,000 when he put his tournament life on the line with pocket 8s. He shoved from the hijack only to have Dan DiZenzo (button) call him down with {As}{7c}.
The board was a killer for Brett: {ah}{6s}{2d}{ts}{ac}.
Dan took the pot with trip Aces, chipping up to about 250,000.
Brett took the long walk to the rail.
Dan is a player who doesn’t make a lot of noise — he just lets his results speak for him. He won a Borgata Open title in the 2011 Borgata Poker Open along with almost $21,000. His largest career cash was from the 2014 WSOP when he made the final table of a $1,000 No Limit Hold’em event, finishing 4th for more than $113,000.
His lifetime earnings total more than $628,000.
