Carmen Labruto was extremely short-stacked when he got his last chips in holding {qc}{jd}. Jake Schwartz looked him up with {as}{2s}.
The board of {ah}{ad}{8d}{ac}{5d} gave Jake quad Aces and the small pot. He’s up to more than 1.3 million now.
Carmen Labruto finished in 7th place, earning $5,316.

On the river with a board of K 9 4 J K, ‘The General’ (sb) bet 850,000 and got a call from Jake Schwartz (under-the-gun).
The General showed KJ for Kings-full to take the pot. Jake mucked without showing his hand and watched as his stack shrank to about 600,000.
The General is up to about 4.3 million.
The next orbit, Jake shoved for 385,000 under-the-gun. The General called from the small blind, then Daniel Charette jammed from the big blind.
The General grumbled about it a good bit as he open-folded his {9s}{9c}. “Why you do that? We’re trying to eliminate a player!” The General said (among other things).
Jake had {Ad}{6d} and was facing off against Daniel Charette’s {kh}{kc}. The board ran out {Ah}{9d}{5c}{ts}{6c} and Jake tripled up to more than 1.1 million. Of course The General was not happy when he saw the 9 hit the board, which would have given him a set and a double-KO if he had called.

In another pair vs. pair confrontation, Daniel Magnuson (sb) got his stack in good holding pocket Kings. Jake Schwartz had him covered, but was tailing with pocket Tens.
The board came 4 4 2 T Q and Jake caught a two-outer Ten on the turn to make a full-house for the pot.
Daniel Magnuson finished in 8th place, earning $3,987.

Harrison Gimbel (bb) got all his chips in the middle against David Jackson (button). David’s pocket 8s were crushing Harrison’s pocket 5s.
The runout of A J 2 7 J changed nothing and David took the pot.
Harrison Gimbel finished in 9th place, earning $2,658.

Very soon after the final table formed, Daniel Magnuson (under-the-gun) got all-in against Asher Conniff (big blind). Daniel’s pocket Aces were good for a double-up against Asher’s flopped pair of 8s.
Daniel chipped up to ~650,000. Asher dropped to ~295,000.
It may have been a tilt-off, but Asher got his chips in from the hijack with 75 and Daniell Charette looked him up from the big blind with {ad}{qd}. The board missed both players and Daniel took the pot with Ace-high.
Asher Conniff finished in 10th place, earning $1,728.

David Jackson came back with the Day 2 chip lead and he’s still near the top of the leaderboard heading into the Event 8 final table. This is the second straight WPT BPO series that Jackson has made a final table run, as he finished 7th in September’s ‘Almighty Million’.
After over an hour and a half, we are finally down to our final ten in the Event 8 ‘Super Stack Elevator’. Ted Gonzalez wen’t out in 11th place and now, just ten players remain and are all in the running for a Winter Poker Open title. Yasin Ahmady controls the chip lead with 2,500,000 but, as we’ve seen throughout this event, the majority of stack are pretty deep.
There are four past BPO champions at this final table, looking to add a “tiny glass Borgata” to their trophy cases. Two of those past champs, Asher Conniff and Harrison Gimbel are short stacked though, so they’ll need to find doubles to get themselves back into contention.
A complete list of the remaining players, their seating assignments and chip counts are provided below:
- Daniel Charrette – 1,800,000
- Jake Schwartz – 1,680,000
- Aaron Belardo – 590,000
- David Jackson – 1,710,000
- Daniel Buzgon – 810,000
- Harrison Gimbel – 430,000
- Asher Conniff – 560,000
- Daniel Magnuson – 330,000
- Carmen Labruto – 310,000
- “The General” – 2,560,000

Harrison Gimbel won a trophy during the last WPT series at Borgata in September and he’s still in the running for another, as he just doubled through Asher Conniff.
Event 8 ‘Super Stack Elevator’ is still on the bubble of the final table but we almost just got down to ten, as Asher Conniff, in his own words, had Harrison Gimbel “on the ropes”. Gimbel didn’t go to the rail though, instead finding a double to keep himself alive for another BPO title.
Action was picked up with Gimbel shoving 207,000 from under the gun and after some folds, Conniff re-shoved from the small blind for just over 550,000. Daniel Magnuson was in the big and he said that his fold was the “dumbest thing he’ll do all day”, as he flicked {Ac}{Jh} into the muck.
Magnuson didn’t want to see the runout, as he would have hit broadway but with him out of the hand, it was Gimbel holding {Kd}{10h} to Conniff’s {Ad}{kc}. The board fell {Qd}{10c}{9c}{Kh}{4h} and Gimbel was doubling up, while Conniff was left again with a short stack and Magnuson wondered, again, what could have been.
Gimbel is now playing just under 450,000 with just a few minutes remaining in Level 24.

We’ve hit a bit of a slow portion of play in both Event 8 and Event 9, as the ‘Pot Limit Omaha High’ final table is stuck at four players and the ‘Super Stack Elevator’ field is now on the final table bubble. The remaining players are all somewhat deep in both events and Event 8 is on that final table bubble because Frank ‘ The Tank’ Labate was just eliminated in 12th place.
‘The Tank’ moved his final 350,000 all-in from late position and David Jackson, who was on the button, called to put Labate at risk. It was a flip, as Labate held {Kh}{Qd} and Jackson held {10h}{10c}.
The pocket pair held, as the board ran out nine-high and Labate will hit the rail in 12th place, good for a $1,728 score. The remaining players are now split between two tables and after the next elimination, we will be down to our final ten.
Those ten players will redraw for seats at the final table and when that occurs, the WPO blog will bring you those now assignments.

Jake Schwartz just went “blackjack”, as Daniel Buzgon called it, and hit a flush on the turn to send top set into the muck and Andrew Glauberg to the rail. He’s now playing a sizable chip lead heading into Level 23.
The biggest pot of Event 8 just played out at Table 1, as Jakes Schwartz just doubled by hitting a flush on the turn to beat Daniel Magnuson’s flopped set of jacks, while also sending Andrew Glauberg to the rail. The hand was picked up with Magnuson limping in early position and after some folds, Glauberg moved all-in for 199,000 from the small blind.
Schwartz, who was in the big blind, called and Magnuson called to give Glauberg a shot at a triple up. The {Jc}{10c}{3c} flop brought a lead bet of 150,000 from Schwartz and after some thought, Magnuson announced himself “all-in” for just over 1,600,000. That was enough to have Schwartz covered but it didn’t matter, as he snap called and turned over {Ac}{Jd}, for top pair and a flush draw.
Magnuson cursed and asked for the dealer to “keep it clean”, as he tabled {Jd}{Js}, good for top set and Glauberg was drawing thin with {Ah}{Qc}. The entire table erupted in a mixture of laughter and screams as the {4c} completed Schwartz’s flush on the turn, with Daniel Buzgon saying, “He went blackjack again!” while the {Qh} brought an end to the madness on the river.
Schwartz then pushed his stack towards the dealer and it weighed in at just under 950,000, meaning that after the double, he’s playing close to 2,600,000, good for a sizable chip lead on the rest of this Event 8 field. When the dust settled, Magnuson was left with just over 500,000 and while he pondered what could have been with top set, Schwartz begged us to “not report whatever just happened”.
The rest of the Event 8 field, including Cornel Cimpan, felt that the “world needs to know”, so here he is, in all his glory, Jake Schwartz, the current Event 8 chip leader.

Two more ‘tiny glass Borgata’ trophies are up for grabs, as Event 8 and Event 9 will play down to winners today.
The first hour of Day 1A of the ‘Borgata Million’ is behind us and we’re now looking ahead to the two Day 2 starts that are about to start. Both Event 8 and Event 9 are coming back already in the money and will be looking to crown champions at some point over the next few hours.
Event 8 ‘Super Stack Elevator’ is coming back with 18 players remaining and that event won’t be picked up in it’s entirety until the final table. Event 9 ‘PLO High’ is coming back already at a final table, meaning that the WPO will pick up that event from the start.
Both restart previews are posted within the following links, Event 8 and Event 9, with payout information and seating assignments posted there.
