The Deep Stack event is back from their dinner break, and they’ve wasted no time with a flurry of bustouts short of the money. Call it the post-dinner rush. There are now 36 players left, and 27 places pay, so they are on the verge of breaking the money bubble. This event will be playing out to a single winner tonight, but since the average stack has but 29 big blinds, it won’t be very many hours before we get there.
We’ll be picking up Deep Stack coverage when they get to the final table, or when the Main Event breaks for the evening at midnight, whichever comes first.

So far, over 200 players have hit the rail in Day 2 of the WPT WPO Championship and those players have to go somewhere. Some are playing in the “post lim” being held downstairs but some are still in the Event Center, battling it out in the ‘$1,000 Second Chance Turbo’ or the ‘Deep Stack’ event.
The Event 18 ‘Deep Stack’ began at 11 AM and that field has since frozen at 250 players. That field has built up an over $85,000 prize pool and is currently working through Level 11, with just shy of half that field still alive.
Meanwhile, the Event 19 ‘$1,000 Second Chance Turbo’ is also through it’s late registration period. 90 players took their shot in that event and that field is also down just below the halfway mark, as 43 player are still alive. There is just over $87,000 up for grabs in that second chance event and both of these events will be playing down to a winner tonight.
The WPO blog will pick up each event when they get closer to the money, with the main focus remaining on the WPT WPO Championship.
Event 18 ‘Deep Stack NLH’
Level 1 (50/100)
While the main focus of the Winter Poker Open blog will be on the Day 2 WPT WPO Championship restart, the action actually starts with Event 18. That ‘Deep Stack NLH’ event will begin at 11 AM and will follow a one-day structure, meaning that another WPO title will be up for grabs today.
This event will see players start with 25,000 chips and play 30 minute levels from start to finish. Late registration and unlimited re-entry will be allowed through Level 8, giving players plenty of time to get into the action.
Today’s ‘Deep Stack’ action kicks off the final week of post-lim events, with the rest of the week’s WPO events boasting sizable guaranteed prize pools. That schedule includes $100,000 GTD events on Wednesday and Friday, and a $50,000 GTD event on Thursday.
After awarding seven Winter Poker Open trophies this weekend, the hardware stayed packed away yesterday, as Day 1B of the WPT WPO Championship was the only event on the schedule. That changes today, as the trophies are coming back out, while that WPT event returns for Day 2.
That group will resume play at 12 PM and the Day 2 table assignments and chip counts are listed below. The two trophy events will bookend that restart, as Event 18 ‘Deep Stack NLH’ begins at 11 AM and the Event 19 ‘$1,000 Second Chance Turbo’ fires off at 1 PM. Those events will be covered in detail through the later portions of today but when play begins, the main focus of the WPO blog will be on that Day 2 WPT restart.
Prior to the start of Event 18 and Event 19, the WPO blog will post all the information you’ll need to follow the action.
