Event 1 (Day 1F)
End of Level 16:
Blinds 2,000 / 4,000 / 400 Ante
Total Event 1F Entrants: 1,451
Total Event 1 Entrants: 5,101
Remaining Players in 1F: Approx. 300
We estimate that Carlos Alvarado has finished the night with the largest chip stack at 402,000, but it’s a very close call with a number of players within a few thin chips of him. As always, the official numbers will come in by morning. Other big stacks:
Paul Evangelou 390,000
James Fisher 360,000
Christopher Mikil 360,000
Orson Young 352,500
Derek Updegraff 350,000
Robert Rukmini 323,000
Petro Grobyak 315,000
Again, a full list of players with official chip counts will be posted when available. A redraw will take place before Day 2 begins at 12 noon Friday, and the seating assignments will be posted in the blog and in the Event Center.
That wraps up the five flights of Event 1, Day 1!
End of Level 16:
Blinds 2,000 / 4,000 / 400 Ante
Total Event 1F Entrants: 1,451
Total Event 1 Entrants: 5,101
Level 16’s timer is now paused, as the players play a randomly selected number of hands to finish the night, and then everyone will bag and tag in the still half-filled room. Tomorrow these players will be joined by those in Flights A-E to play Day 2 beginning at noon (a little over 7 hours from now!)
I’ve found the chip leader and the large chip stacks and will be reporting on those numbers in just a moment.
Level 15
Blinds 1,500 / 3,000 / 400 Ante
Total Event 1F Entrants: 1,451
Total Event 1 Entrants: 5,101
A couple players have posted updates on Twitter toward the end of the night. First, the good news:
Stacked a guy. Got 130. 20k more and I’m officially even. #justbag #BWPO2016
— Jason Bral (@jasbral) January 22, 2016
Then, the bad news:
Bust J9 < 97 on 9632r for 140k in limped pot at bb 2400 #bwpo#maxpain
— Chris Leong (@ChrisLeongPoker) January 22, 2016
We can’t find results for Jason, but Chris has earned $378,722 in tournaments, including a win at Event 7 here last April. Let’s hope he can add to that total later in the series.
Level 15
Blinds 1,500 / 3,000 / 400 Ante
Total Event 1F Entrants: 1,451
Total Event 1 Entrants: 5,101
There are about 44 tables left here in the back half of the Event Center, for the F flight of event 1. There are around 681 already qualified for Day 2, and about 440 left here. If this last number gets to 219 or below, we’ll have enough players to fill the entire room (900). More than that, and we’ll see what the staff decides to put the extra players. Either way, it’ll be a full house tomorrow. No pun intended.
We’re in the second to last level of the night. Following Level 16, players will bag and tag and return at 12 p.m. Friday (a little more than eight hours from now).
Level 14:
Blinds 1,200 / 2,400 / 300 Ante
Total Event 1F Entrants: 1,451
Total Event 1 Entrants: 5,101
Foros Panteli, from Long Island, is one of three players to flip over cards preflop. Foros has the shortest stack and is all in for his last 30,200.
Foros: {Ac}{10s}
Player 2: {As}{2s}
Player 3: {Ad}{Qs}
The flop is the heartbreaker for Foros’s opponents, as it runs out {4h}{5d}{10d}{5h}{9d}. The tens and fives with ace kicker is just enough, and Foros triples up at the expense of his larger-stacked opponents.
Level 14:
Blinds 1,200 / 2,400 / 300 Ante
Total Event 1F Entrants: 1,451
Total Event 1 Entrants: 5,101
Shaun “DJLookz” Lynn, a deejay, poker player and restaurateur, is still hanging on in the last flight of Event 1:
tripled up , still short but little workable #KeepClimbing
— Shaun Lynn (@djlookz) January 22, 2016
We can’t hear the ambient music anymore, so perhaps if DJLookz busts, he can spin us some EDM, or something, for these last few levels?
Level 13:
Blinds 1,000 / 2,000 / 300 Ante
Total Event 1F Entrants: 1,451
Total Event 1 Entrants: 5,101
Ludovic “Gr4vyBo4t” Geilich lost in crushing fashion a little bit ago, and he tells it like this via Twitter:
Casual 4 bullets at the 560lotto borgata Atlantic City …final bullet 3 levels off day 2 AQvs33 aip flop 337 #OverKill#DeathByQuads
— ludovic geilich (@Gr4vyBo4t) January 22, 2016
Ludovic is from Germany and has very close to a million in total tournament winnings. His best finish was 4th at EPT London back in 2013 for a cool $313,482.
End of Level: 12
Blinds 800 / 1,600 / 200 Ante
Total Event 1F Entrants: 1,451
Total Event 1 Entrants: 5,101
We’re in our last fifteen-minute break of the night. After this, we’ll be playing four more levels and then bagging and tagging.
Level: 12
Blinds 800 / 1,600 / 200 Ante
Total Event 1F Entrants: 1,451
Total Event 1 Entrants: 5,101
Kenny Levine, who is sitting on about 70,000 in chips, said that he looked like Sloth from Goonies in his earlier photo, so I took another one. Hope this one turned out a little better, Kenny!
Level 11:
Blinds 600 / 1,200 / 200 Ante
Total Event 1F Entrants: 1,451
Total Event 1 Entrants: 5,101
Nikola Dalessio, who hails from Italy, puts his opponent all in on a board of {6c}{9c}{Qc}{Jd}. She calls and turns over {10h}{7d}, but Nikola is ahead with {Jc}{10d}. The river is the {Qd} and Nikola’s two pair takes it, eliminating his opponent.
