Without an adjusted payout, the players dared take on Amir Zaken and his rungood. They all wanted the trophy and the glory of first, and only playing can truly decide who is the best.
That was their first mistake.
The next one was underestimating Zaken. In the key hand of the final table, Zaken made a tough call with a middle flush facing pressure from James Nilsen. Being correct made his chip lead almost insurmountable for the shortstacked Zollo and Levy, as well as knocking out a clearly dangerous opponent.
In the final hand of the night he made the nut flush and after only a few hands of heads up, the tourney was complete.
Zaken bought in three times for this re-entry event, meaning he had to get to the final table to even out his investment. He did much more than that, and is a worthy champion of Event 22.
