The Super Knockout Bounty event brought a talented field together for the final warmup event of the Winter Poker Open before the World Poker Tour event starts on Sunday. In a similar spot at this time last year, Kurt Lichtman came close to winning his first BPO event but fell one spot short in the Six Max event.
This year was a different story for Lichtman, though, as he stood tall against a talented final table to earn victory. Lichtman started play as the chip leader and held firm against the ups and downs that come with a turbo-esque final table. After laddering up a few pay jumps, Lichtman started heads up play with a heavy deficit against Joey Weissman. Shortly into their match, Lichtman doubled up and took over the match from there.
Once he gained a strong advantage against Weissman, the two made a deal netting Lichtman the trophy. He adds a BPO trophy to a solid poker resume that includes over $300,000 in earnings and World Series of Poker final table. Along with the $22,000 first place prize, Lichtman earned eight bounties, to bring his haul for this event up to $30,000 with an appearance in the WPT Main Event likely to follow.
