The majority of the action through the first half hour of Level 25 has been centered around Table 2, as Samuel Taylor, another short stack, just saw his pocket aces fall to eliminate him in 26th place. The hand was picked up pre flop, with Taylor opening to under the gun to 65,000 and after some folds, both Keith Morrow and Brian Altman called in the blinds.
All three players checked the {Qs}{Jh}{9d} flop, with the blinds checking the {2c} as well. Taylor didn’t check for a second time though, instead betting 110,000. Morrow then quickly announced “three eighty” and cut out 380,000 for a check-raise. Altman got out of the way and with close to 750,000 behind, Taylor went into the tank for over two minutes.
Eventually, he called and after the {2s} completed the board, Morrow announced himself “all-in”. Taylor snap called and both players seemed confused after Morrow cursed under his breath while tabling {Kh}{10h}. That was a flopped straight and Taylor went to table his hand before realizing that his opponent had him beat.
He flipped over {Ah}{Ad} and Morrow explained himself, as he thought Taylor had rivered a full house. He hadn’t and his two pair was no good against Morrow’s straight, with the victor now playing close to 2,800,000. Taylor will make just shy of $17,000 for his WPT run.
